Parkland College's Adult Education will honor students who have passed General Education Development, the high school equivalency program, since last June at the Parkland campus.
A reception for those students who have earned their GED this year through the program will take place this Wednesday, June 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the lower level of the Student Union cafeteria.
Students will have the opportunity to wear a cap and gown and to have their accomplishment acknowledged in front of those who are important to them. Along with acknowledging GED recipients, one student will be recognized who was first in Adult Education's ESL classes, then earned his GED, and is now finishing up the Accelerated Opportunities program in Welding with four certifications. This student has been achieving these credentials while working full-time and caring for a wife and child.
Light refreshments will be served at the reception. For more information, please call 217/351-2580.
