Parkland Jazz Combo: Free Concert

Mon, Apr 24, 2017 starting at 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Listen to jazz classics, well-known standards

The Parkland Jazz Combo will perform Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the Parkland College Theatre's Second Stage. This concert is free and open to the public.

Led by Kevin Hart, the ensemble will perform selections from artists such as Freddie Hubbard, Pat Metheny, J.J. Johnson, Sam Crain, John Scott, Bud Powell, BWB, and Eric Alexander, among others.

For decades, the Parkland Jazz Combo has provided an opportunity for upcoming musicians in the Champaign-Urbana area to gain playing and improvisation experience in a small jazz group setting. The repertoire consists of jazz classics and well-known standards as well as originals and arrangements by the members themselves.

The combo meets Monday afternoons in the fall and spring semesters, with auditions held at the start of each semester. For more information about the Parkland Jazz Combo, email khart@parkland.edu.
