WYSE Academic Challenge

Ten high school teams face off with academic tests in regional competition Feb. 6, 7 

Parkland College will host the regional competition for Academic Challenge sponsored by Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) on Feb. 6 and 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in room D244.

WYSE is an international program headquartered at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Teams from 10 area high schools will be tested in math, English, chemistry, physics, biology, engineering graphics and computer science. The following schools will send representatives:

Atwood-Hammond High School
Champaign Centennial High School
Champaign Central High School
Heritage High School
Mahomet-Seymour High School
Monticello High School
Rantoul Township High School
St. Joseph-Ogden High School
Tolono Unity High School
University Laboratory High School

The top two teams from each school-size division and top two individuals from each subject within each school-size division will advance to the sectionals at Eastern Illinois University on March 6. The state finalists will compete at the I-Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign April 7–10.
