National Campus Sustainability Day events

Join the campus — and nation — in sustainability awareness activities on Oct. 24 

Parkland College will participate in National Campus Sustainability Day with the following events on Wednesday, October 24 at its campus. More information on the national observance is available at http://secondnature.org/csd/.

Sustainable Clothing
10 a.m. - 11 a.m. • Room D116
Presenter Jonas Dees, a member of Parkland's Sustainable Campus Committee, will discuss how the clothes we wear affect the earth we live on.

Alternative Transportation Day
10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. • College Center
Students and employees are encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint by riding their bike, walking, carpooling, or taking the bus to campus today, then stopping by the college center to enter the drawing for an MTD bus pass.

Fowler Farm Tour
Noon and 1 p.m. • Tony Noel Agricultural Technology Applications Center
Parkland is one of only a handful of community colleges with student-run sustainable gardens. Meet Agriculture Associate Professor Don Bergfield at the Noel Ag Tech Center to ride to the farm.

Preparing Students for a Changing Climate
1-2:30 p.m. • Room D116
The Parkland College Sustainable Campus Committee will host the viewing of a live webinar panel discussion on creating sustainability curriculum.
