“Parkland College Presents" Concert

Parkland, Bloomington-Normal concert bands perform joint concert; free and open to public 

“Parkland College Presents,” a joint concert by the Parkland College Community Concert Band and the Bloomington-Normal Community Concert Band, will be held on April 21 at 3 p.m. at Urbana High School, 1002 S. Race St., Urbana. The event is free and open to the public.

The Bloomington ensemble, conducted by Michael Wallace, will perform American “Hymnsong Suite” by Dwayne S. Milburn and two selections by John Mackey: “Sheltering Sky” and “Xerxes.”

The Parkland concert band, conducted by Larry Stoner, will perform a number of selections, including “Overture to Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss, arranged by Lucien Cailliet; “The Vanished Army (They Never Die) Poetic March” by Kenneth J. Alford; and “A Movement for Rosa” by Mark Camphouse.
