Pop-culture tunes of the 1950s take center stage during "Sock Hop," a concert by the Parkland Pops to be held Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. in Parkland College's Harold and Jean Miner Theatre.
This event is free and open to the public.
Brian Hagy leads the 14-member chorus in delivering such familiar tunes as Bye Bye Love
by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant (debuted by the Everly Brothers), The Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody
, All Shook Up
and Love Me Tender
by Elvis Presley, At the Hop
by Artie Singer, John Medora, and David White (made famous by Danny and the Juniors); and Charlie Brown
by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (made famous by the Coasters), among several other tunes.
The Parkland Pops choir is open to community members, including those with special needs.
