The Parkland Theatre will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an original, student-written murder mystery in an intimate, dessert/dinner theatre atmosphere.
“Merely Players,” the 22nd annual Parkland College theatre student production, was written and directed exclusively for this anniversary event by Stefanie Senior, a theatre scholarship recipient.
Performances are Nov. 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.
The play centers around a Parkland Theatre revue and retrospective that goes terribly wrong — the director is murdered! Laughs and twists will abound as audience members enjoy beverages and an assortment of tempting bite-sized desserts at their onstage table.
However, for one night only, Friday, November 2, a full dinner option will be offered at the show. Students from the Parkland College Hospitality department will prepare and serve a delicious three-course meal in their intimate restaurant. Afterwards, audience members will move to their reserved tables in the theatre for desserts and the performance.
Parkland College theatre students have written “Merely Players” and will direct it, design the lights and sound, create the costumes, and perform it! Past student productions include “Outside the Box,” “All Out,” “The Murder Room,” “Harvey,” and “Get Smart.”
See the show and support the Randall Millas Theatre Scholarship program. Dessert theatre tickets are $10 and include beverages, desserts and the show. The ticket price for the full dinner and show experience is $25. Please reserve soon as seats are limited.
