Parkland offers three types of study abroad.

1) Long and medium term programs endorsed by the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP) and provide Parkland College credit.

In 2007-2008, you can travel to:

• Dijon, France
  University of Burgundy’s International Center
• Canterbury, England
  Canterbury Christ Church University
• San Jose, Costa Rica
  Forester Instituto Internacional
• Salzburg Austria
  Salzburg College
  Salzburg College summer session

Programs are also available in Japan, Munich, and Germany. Contact Martha Bowser-Kiener for more information.

2) Short term career oriented programs through Community Colleges for International Development (CCID).

In 2007-2008, you can travel to:

• Nursing. Ecuador (Susan Caneva)
• Agriculture, Denmark (Don Bergfield)

3) Global studies learning communities. These are Parkland courses that include a study abroad component. Taught by Parkland faculty, these are an excellent way to learn about another culture through firsthand experience.

In 2007-2008, you can travel to:

• HUM 103. Japan (Takuo Kinoshita)
• HUM 104, Senegal (Ibrahima Ndoye)
• AGB 192. Costa Rica (Melissa Leach/Don Bergfield)
• Marine Biology of the Caribbean (Bio 104- Heidi Leuszler)

Participant Eligibility
Student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours, including ENG 101, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75.
