Student must have:

  • Completed a minimum of 12 semester credit hours of college-level coursework;
  • A 2.75 cumulative GPA;
  • Completed ENG 101 prior to travel.
  1. The student must have the Parkland College/ICISP Study Abroad Program Application on file in the dean of academic services' office before the scholarship application can be processed. Application for a Study Abroad scholarshipmust include 1) at least two faculty letters of recommendation; and 2) the required essay.
  2. The Scholarship Application essay should address how your studies and future career choices will benefit from this experience.
  3. The applicant may be asked to meet (interview) with the International Education Council. The interview will be either on a one-on-one basis, or the student will meet with the Committee as a group.
  4. The Council will determine winner(s) and amount of award(s).
  5. A member or the chair of the committee (dean of academic services) will notify the winner(s).
  6. The Council will advise the Office of Financial Aid of the names(s) and amount of scholarship(s) and how the funds will be disbursed.
  7. The Office of Financial Aid will process the scholarship.

If awarded the scholarship, plan to send a postcard from your study abroad program to members of the Committee. You may wish to keep a journal that you can share upon your return. Even if you do not win the scholarship, the International Education Council will love hearing about your experiences.
