The Respiratory Therapist

Respiratory therapy is a life-supporting, life-enhancing health care profession practiced under qualified medical direction. The respiratory therapist provides care services to patients with disorders of the cardiopulmonary system, including diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring, and rehabilitation. The respiratory therapist also works to educate the patient, family, and the public.

Parkland College has cooperative educational agreements with several Illinois community colleges that allow their district residents to enroll in Parkland's Respiratory Therapy program at Parkland's in-district rate. Students from those colleges may take their required general education courses and complete their clinical requirements in their own communities. Please review the in-district Parkland College respiratory care program or the out of-district cooperative educational program information attached. For additional information please call 217/351-2296.
