To prepare entry-level radiographers to be able to perform quality radiographic
examinations with minimal exposure to patients and themselves.
You’ll get valuable on-the-job training while working under the direction
of technologists in local hospitals. You’ll assist with radiographic
exams on adults and children as well as complete rotations in various specialty
areas. Your clinical courses include extensive clinical practice in which you’ll
function with relative independence.
If you are a full-time student, you can earn your A.A.S. degree in two years,
including one summer session. A part-time schedule is available for completing
your general education courses.
Upon graduation, you will be qualified to take the national examination given
by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. You will then be certified
as a registered radiologic technologist (RT).

All health professions programs require a State Police background check prior to or at the start of the first course in a program. A positive finding related to a felony conviction may limit clinical placement and employment.
Prior classes in biology, chemistry,
algebra, and geometry are helpful. Students must be able to assess into MAT
098 in order to be considered.
New classes are admitted each summer semester. You should submit all admission
credentials by March 1 of the year you wish to enter the program. Contact
Parkland’s
Admissions office at 217/351-2482 and request the Health Professions admissions
procedures.
