Job outlook
Employment opportunities are very good in east central Illinois and throughout the country. Approximately one-half of our RT graduates have been employed locally, while the others are either continuing their education or have relocated to other areas of the country.

Earning potential
Nationwide, average salaries for radiologic technologists was about $47,010 in 2005, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Illinois Occupational Wage survey reports median earnings annual of about $20.76/hour in 2005. Entry-level salaries will vary.

Career advancement

With experience, you can advance to managerial and supervisory positions in radiology departments. Advancement is also possible with additional training in the specialities of nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computer tomography, magnetic resonance, radiation oncology, education, and administration.
