The Occupational Therapy Assistant
In this health and rehabilitation profession, you will provide a vital role
in helping people regain, develop, and build skills to function independently
and lead healthy, satisfying lives. Under the guidance of a registered
occupational therapist, you will provide intervention services for people
of all ages and backgrounds who need specialized assistance because of
illness, injury, or developmental or psychological impairments. Intervention
focuses on therapeutic use of purposeful activities and treatment techniques
to:
• help improve physical and mental health following disability
• restore functional performance
• prevent deterioration and/or re-injury
