Comprehensive introduction to conscious sedation (i.e., the administration of nitrous oxide) for the dental assistant; anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and dental emergencies. Teach the dental assistant to monitor the induction of the gas so that the patient is at a level of analgesia, not anesthesia. Proof of 1,000 hours of dental assisting experience is required.
