Parkland College Dental Hygiene Clinic offers a number of services to you. Treatment at the clinic includes a thorough oral examination, oral hygiene instructions, medical history review, cleaning, and fluoride treatment. Pictures of your teeth...
The x-rays taken in the clinic must be authorized by your dentist or Parkland's dentist. You cannot be scheduled only for x-rays - they are taken in conjunction with full treatment. After your final appointment in the clinic, the x-rays will be mailed to your dentist. It is advisable that you make an appointment with your dentist after your treatment in the Dental Hygiene Clinic is completed and that you contact your dentist several days prior to your appointment to confirm that the x-rays have been received at his/her office.
Medical history...
The students are required to take a thorough medical history from each patient which includes blood pressure measurements. (Your treatment at the clinic may need to be altered if you have a reading above or below established medical standards.) In the instances of a history of heart murmur, heart problems, or rheumatic fever, your physician may need to be consulted before you undergo dental treatment in the clinic. A thorough screening of your health is for your protection.
Appointments...
Each dental appointment is approximately 3 hours in length. Since this is a learning experience for the Dental Hygiene students, complete treatment may require several visits to the clinic. Inability or unwillingness to cooperate with all recommended treatment and procedures may result in discontinuance of service. Please try to arrive at the clinic 5 to 10 minutes prior to your appointment. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your appointment time may be given to another patient. Babysitting is not available.
During bad weather when Parkland College is closed, the clinic is also closed. Local radio stations will advise you of that information. Every effort will be made to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
Appointments may be made by phoning 351-2221, If appointments are not available, your name and phone number will be added to an appointment list, and you will be called when time is available.

Patient comments...
Very enjoyable experience, excellent cleaning!
The service being offered at the clinic is excellent and will definitely be recommended to friends. I thought the extended amount of time would be annoying, but I learned quite a bit from a very cooperative and enjoyable student.
I really appreciate the excellent care you give my children whenever we come. You provide an excellent first experience with dental care for them.
I'm glad to see the emphasis on patient education.
I certainly thought it was well worth my time to come here. The student who took care of me was very thoughtful and careful to explain everything that was going on to me. And my teeth have definitely never been checked and cleaned as thoroughly
