Choosing a college or university is a big decision. College visits allow for students to make the most informed decision possible on where they want to go after Parkland College.
A college catalog, view book, or website can only show so much. Actually visiting a college or university gives students a good idea of what the school has to offer and whether or not it is a good fit for them.
To really get a feel for the school it is important to gather as much information as possible by exploring the quad, sit in a classroom, visit the residence and dining halls, gather publications, ask a variety of questions that are important to you, and talk with faculty, staff, and other students about their experiences.
What does a typical college visit look like?
- Meet with a transfer admissions counselor, financial aid advisor, TRiO/SSS staff person (if college has a TRiO program) & departmental representative (when available)
- Talk with current students
- Tour the campus
- Visit a residence hall and get information on other housing options
- Browse the college bookstore
- Dine on-campus or off-campus
Transportation, food and lodging, if necessary are provided for participating students.
