Annual Parkland Art and Design Faculty Exhibition
ANNUAL EXHIBIT TO SHOWCASE ART/DESIGN FACULTY TALENT They’re more than great instructors: The Art and Design faculty at Parkland College are also great artists. Recent works created by the faculty were showcased in the 2006 Parkland College Art and Design Faculty Exhibition, from August 21 through September 21 at the Parkland Art Gallery. An artists’ reception on Thursday, August 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gallery lounge was offer a great opportunity to view the faculty’s work, mingle with the artists, and meet the college’s new president, Dr. Robert Exley. Fine and Applied Arts Department Chair Seamus Reilly gave opening remarks, and the Parkland College Foundation provided refreshments. Live music by Jordan Kaye and Friends rounded out the evening’s festivities. “Our faculty exhibit is a great way to highlight our gallery in its 25th anniversary season,” Reilly said, “and we are delighted to formally welcome Dr. Exley to the Parkland College arts community.” Drawing from a wide range of specialty areas, the faculty exhibition featured something for everyone. This year’s exhibit included works by approximately 20 studio art and design faculty, in media as diverse as painting, photography, drawing, metals, sculpture, digital, ceramics, printmaking and mixed media. Students and the community will enjoy the work, which mirrors the broad spectrum of art courses available at the college.
