This exhibit is a collection of recent works by ceramic artist Donald Pilcher. His vessel and platter forms are colorful works that may evoke childhood memories for some viewers.

Don himself playfully describes this series as "good and plenty candy." Pilcher is known for his elegant ceramic forms that are embellished with bits and pieces of porcelain to create energetically encrusted works that have a mischievous air about them. He has returned to making ceramic pieces after spending several years focusing on sculptural works. "I make these pots for my own enjoyment. They are intended to be part of the centuries old tradition of wheel thrown clay. I try to add some artist’s prerogatives concerning the proportions, shapes and glazes."

Born in Los Angeles California, Don currently he lives in Champaign, Illinois and is Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In the summer of 2001, his work was included in the "American Ceramics" exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.
