20th Annual Parkland Art Faculty Exhibition Our first show of the fall semester will feature the works of the Parkland Art Faculty. This is a rather special moment in the history of the Parkland Art Gallery as it marks the start of our 20th year. It is no accident that the reception of the Art Faculty Exhibition is on Thursday, August 23rd, for back in 1981, August 23rd was the date of the first opening reception for the gallery. The first exhibit to be in the gallery was an exhibition of work by Parkland Art Faculty. Starting each fall with the Art Faculty exhibit has been a tradition since the gallery’s inception. The Parkland Art Faculty exhibit has always been an important exhibit for the gallery. Not only does it allow the students at Parkland to see the work of their art instructors but it provides the college an opportunity to showcase some of the talented people who teach at the institution. Two of the art faculty who exhibited in this first gallery exhibition will also be exhibiting in this year's show. These artists include Donald Lake and Juannita Gammon. As it has for the past twenty years, the Annual Parkland Art Faculty Exhibition features current works by staff of both the Fine Art and Graphic Design programs. This is a yearly glimpse of what our Art Faculty have been creating in their studios. Some new faculty members, John Havlik, Brian Heaton, Steven Hudson, and Marie Mullett, will be exhibiting with us for the first time. Join us in celebrating the talent of these instructors with a reception on Thursday, August 23 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the gallery lounge. The Parkland Art faculty include: Louis Ballard, Chris Berti, Marsha Daniels, Juanita Gammon, Larry Gilbert, Lawrence Hamlin, John Havlik, Brian Heaton, Faith Heller, Steven Hudson, Matthew Kabat, Jamie Kruidenier, Robert Laible, Don Lake, Sally McMahan, Craig McMonigal, Marie Mullett, Laura O'Donnell, Susan Pryde, Denise Seif, Peggy Shaw, Joan Stolz, and Paul Young.
