The Parkland Art gallery is pleased to announce the opening of "Aspects of Design: Six Industrial Designers," curated by Mark Arends.
This show contains a selection of product design work from six leading industrial designers. Learn more about this exciting field and see what goes into creating the objects that surround you. From your office chair and paper shredder, to your toaster and juice bottle, these objects are the innovative solutions of industrial designers. Once the aesthetic of the object was the primary concern of the designer; now the human interaction and the sociocultural environment in which the object exists are part of the designer's concerns.

Mark Arends, who curated this exhibition is the Chair of the Industrial Design Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His gallery talk will provide insight into the evolution of the industrial design field and how the exhibiting designers provide a sampling of some outstanding examples of product design.
