Come see the fanciful and imaginative clay sculptures of Heidi Preuss-Grew. Heidi Preuss Grew currently lives in Salem, Oregon, and is Assistant Professor of Art at Willamette University. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Art History, Germanic Languages and Literature, and Crafts. She received her MFA from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Heidi has exhibited work nationally in the United States and in Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Germany and the Czech Republic.

The work on exhibit is influenced by literary and art historical sources. Her figures are a merry mix of animals and humans to provide a glimpse of the characters they portray. The exhibit of sculpture will also provide you with the drawings that preceded the three-dimensional forms she created in clay. “These studies tend to expose the vulnerable and pathetic side of the human condition more often than the heroic or beautiful.” Heidi goes on to state, “My hope is that the viewers see themselves in the figures and sympathize with them.”

Heidi will provide a gallery talk at 7 p.m. on the evening of the reception Thursday, November 16.
