The Parkland advantage
With the hands-on skills you’ll acquire with a variety of high-tech surveying instruments, you will be ready to start work on a survey crew immediately after graduation. You will be prepared to perform construction layout surveys from which contractors can build entire projects. You will be able to understand and prepare survey drawings and measurement records.

You will also become knowledgeable about the rapidly evolving technology within the surveying field, such as global positioning system survey methods. In your study of the computations and investigative methods used by professional surveyors, you will become familiar with the essential problem-solving processes that will help you advance in your profession. You will also learn how to search for employment in the surveying industry.

Because personal computer skills are so increasingly important in this field, your course work will emphasize computer-aided drafting, automated digital survey practices, and related software applications.

On-the-job training
Summer field work experience with local and regional surveying employers will provide you with practical, hands-on training within the construction industry.

Length of study
This program has been designed for both full-time and part-time students. You can complete the four required semesters plus the summer field work experience in two years of full-time study.

Higher education and transfer option
With substitutions of mathematics courses, this program may be transferred to universities offering a B.S. degree that will prepare the student to take the Land Surveyor-In-Training examination.
