Employment opportunities
The surveying industry is experiencing a shortage of surveying technicians
nationwide. Graduates of Parkland’s Construction Design and Management:
Surveying Technology program face a broad array of opportunities working
for engineering and surveying companies, contractors, city and county engineers,
and state public works agencies.
Job outlook
Employment opportunities in surveying are expected to be plentiful during
the next five years. Public works projects and commercial construction will
continue to drive the growing need for qualified surveying technicians throughout
the nation.
Earning potential
In an entry-level position locally, you can earn $11 to $13/hour ($23,000 to
$27,000/year). After two years of experience, you can expect an hourly wage
of $13 to $16/hour (27,000 to $33,000/year).

Your entry-level job can be the beginning of a great career in surveying.
New technology in surveying is rapidly evolving, and your solid background
will put you in a good position to assess expanding growth opportunities.
On-the-job learning and further training can lead to supervisory and project
management positions.
