Our Program
Paid on-site work experience
Sponsored by one of our industrial partners, you get an inside look at the opportunities
available in modern manufacturing facilities. In these paid internship positions,
you will become familiar with the manufacturing environment and learn what is
expected of a skilled technician.
Choose your specialty
The industrial technology core curriculum will give you in-depth knowledge
of the workings of the manufacturing industry. You will then choose an area
of concentration in Machine Tool and CNC Programming, Industrial Maintenance
and Automation, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), or Welding.
Length of study
A full-time student can complete this program in two years, including summers.
After your first semester of classes you will be eligible to being your 32-week
on-site training with your sponsoring company. On a part-time basis, it will
take longer to complete the program.
Skills upgrading
Upgrading your technical skills and knowledge can greatly increase your advancement
opportunities on the job. Many students in Parkland’s Industrial Technology
program are full-time employees studying to upgrade their skills.
Continuing education
Graduates with an A.A.S. in industrial technology may be able to transfer
most of their credits to four-year universities offering bachelor’s degrees
in fields such as industrial technology, mechanical engineering technology, and
electrical engineering technology.
