Industrial Technology Hybrid Courses

Hybrid Courses

Hybrids are courses in which a significant portion of the learning activities have been moved online, and time spent in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated. The goal of a Hybrid course is to combine the best features of in-class teaching with the best features of online learning. Hybrid courses promote active, independent learning and reduce class seat time. Students are required to participate in class each week and to complete weekly coursework online.

WLD 112 Gas Metal Arc Welding

Hybrid Course Description:

WLD 112 Gas Metal Arc Welding

Gas metal arc welding fundamentals, welding safety, gas metal arc equipment adjustments, metal transfer, and shielding gases; skill development in all positions of welding on mild steel ranging from 1/16" sheet to 1/4"plate.  Machine trouble shooting and set up are stressed.  Forehand and backhand methods are covered.  Basic metallurgy and welding symbols introduced. Welding labs are evaluated to AWS/industry standards.   A subscription to Tooling University is required.

MFT 121 Basic Machine Processes

General machining procedures including basic operations of drill press, lathe, and mill. Basic bench work operations including layout and hand tools. Basic machine tool projects using cross section of machine tool equipment.

MFT 122 Intermediate Machine Processes

Setup and operational procedures of mills, grinders, and lathes. Cutting speeds, feed rates, tool geometry for vairous types of alloy steels. Prerequisite: MFT 121

MFT 211 Advanced Machining Processes and Inspection Practices

Advanced manual machine tool operation and inspection practices. Prerequisite: MFT 122 or equivalent.
