The cooperative education work experience
This system allows the student to apply, in a real-world setting, what he or
she has learned during the previous classroom session. In addition, the student
becomes familiar with the dealership environment, its organizational structure,
and the competencies that are expected of a professional automotive service
technician.
Student Responsibilities
- Maintain sponsorship with a Ford, Lincoln-Mercury, or Mazda dealership.
- Maintain academic standards and adhere to academic policies.
- Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
- Be a responsible and productive employee for the sponsoring dealer.
- Be responsible for program costs which include tuition, fees, books, and tools.
- Pass and maintain drug-free screening according to dealership policy.
Dealer Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate work experience which reinforces the trainee’s most recent classroom experience.
- Pay trainees during periods of dealership-coordinated work experience.
- Provide the new student employee with uniforms in a manner consistent with other dealership employees.
- Provide access to Ford’s professional service technician website.
