You will learn valuable skills in electronics, hydraulics, power trains, and diesel engines through course work and cooperative work experience. This program was developed in cooperation with local diesel equipment dealers, so while you are enrolled in school you will also gain real work experience as part of your studies. Parkland will assist in placing you into one of these paid internship programs.

Length of study
This program has been designed for both full- and part-time students; you can earn your A.A.S. degree in two years of full-time study or longer if on a part-time basis.

Continuing your education
Upon completion of your degree, you will be prepared to enter a specialized career in diesel power equipment technology. If and when you choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree, many of the courses you have completed will be eligible for transfer credit. Experienced diesel power equipment technicians continue their education on an ongoing basis to maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, as well as to broaden their technical skills.

Entry requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required for admission to this program. High school courses in electronics, English, mathematics, and physics are helpful, as is experience in automotive repair and farm equipment repair. A state commercial driver’s license may be needed for employment.
