Intercollegiate Athletics
Intercollegiate athletics provide an opportunity for students to participate in state and national competition. The intercollegiate program includes varsity competition for men in baseball, basketball, golf, and soccer; and for women in basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. There is also a cheerleading squad and dance team. The college offers tuition and fee waivers for all sports. The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Mid-West Athletic Conference.
Parkland athletic teams have experienced tremendous success at the national, regional, state, and conference levels in recent years. The baseball team won the NJCAA World Series in 2002. The softball team has made six consecutive trips to nationals, finishing second in 2006 and 2002, fourth in 2003, and fifth in 2004. Parkland also won national championships in volleyball in 1999 and men’s basketball in 1986. Parkland teams won conference championships in 2006-2007, and numerous athletes earned All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors.
The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) Report is available upon request from the director of athletics in P204.
