Future artists, journalists, playwrights, musicians, and public speakers benefit
from the carefully designed degree programs offered through Fine and Applied
Arts. FAA develops its courses with input from other community college and
university
fine arts faculties, ensuring a greater transfer of Parkland College credits
to institutions offering bachelor’s degrees.
Students may earn the Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) degree in music or art (performance or education emphasis) or may choose one of the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree programs in theatre arts, graphic design, speech communication or mass communication (which includes journalism, radio-TV broadcasting, advertising/public relations, and other specializations). FAA students usually consult with a faculty advisor throughout their programs, and have numerous opportunities for practical experience through several real world labs: art gallery, theatre, community choirs, jazz and concert bands, campus radio station, or student newspaper.
