Honors Program
The Parkland Honors Program is open to all students who have demonstrated consistent academic excellence, motivation, and leadership. The objectives of the program include integrating academic study and extracurricular projects; bridging school, community, and the workplace; fostering collaboration among faculty and students; and promoting a synthesis of various academic disciplines.
Students will be accepted into the Honors Program based on any one of the following: high school GPA, SAT score, ACT score, assessment into ENG 106, Parkland GPA, or Honors Application Essay. Students must apply for admission into the Honors Program, and the director of the Honors Program may interview each applicant before admission is confirmed.
After being admitted to the Honors Program, students are eligible to receive a scholarship each semester they participate in the program (four semesters maximum).
To graduate as an Honors Program Scholar, a student must complete a minimum number of credit hours of honors-designated course work. An honors designation (honors, high honors, or highest honors) will appear on the transcripts and diplomas of all students who meet Honors Program graduation requirements.
For details about the Honors Program, contact Marsh Jones, director of the Honors Program, at 217/373-3739, or e-mail mjones@parkland.edu.
