Academic Suspension
Any student on academic probation who attempts one or more college credit courses at the 100 level or above and fails to achieve a minimum 1.5 semester grade point average will be academically suspended from the college.
- The suspension will be for the full semester (fall or spring) following the term of current enrollment.
- While on suspension, readmission for developmental course work will be considered if the student files an appeal through the dean of academic services in room A113.
- If the appeal is approved, the student may enroll only in courses below the 100 level, in Applied Learning Skills, and/or repeat courses and only with the consent of a counselor or advisor. Written notification will be sent to the student explaining the suspension and outlining the appeal process, as well as normal reinstatement procedures.
- The student will be required to meet with a counselor or academic advisor to review his/her educational plan prior to being permitted to register for classes.
- The dean of academic services will clear the student’s records for registration in remedial or developmental courses only after obtaining approvals outlined in steps 2 through 4.
- The student must be enrolled prior to the first scheduled meeting of the class.
