Karrie Redeker will begin her first year at the helm for the Cobras this season.  She comes to Parkland after eight years as the varsity girls’ basketball coach at Unity High School in Tolono. 

Redeker compiled a career record of 158-62 while at Unity, winning 20 games or more five times and winning five Regional titles. Her 2006-2007 team finished (20-9) winning the Regional title before falling to St. Joseph-Ogden in the Sectionals.  In college, Redeker played at Southern Illinois-Carbondale where she was a four-year letter winner. She was an Honorable Mention All-Gateway Conference selection in 1992 and is the career leader in 3-pointers made at SIU-C.

Redeker is the eighth Women’s Basketball Coach at Parkland and the third woman to serve in this capacity. The two previous women were Lynette Trout (1975-79), the Cobras first head coach, while Kay Martin held the job from 1988-1990.

Redeker currently teaches fifth grade at Unity West Elementary School in Tolono and will complete her master’s degree in administration from Eastern Illinois University in December 2007. 

Chuck Clutts

Coach Clutts joins the women’s basketball staff after successful stints as an assistant basketball coach at Champaign Centennial High School and at St. Joe-Ogden High School.  Clutts also serves as the head coach for softball at Parkland, and has built a dynasty on the diamond for the Cobras.  Coach Clutts will be in charge of recruiting, handle academic monitoring, and work primarily with the post players at Parkland.

Chad Cusac

Assistant Coach

Coach Cusac will be an assistant coach  for the women’s basketball team this season.  He comes to Parkland with extensive experience, having been an assistant at Bloomington Central Catholic High School.  Coach Cusac will focus on defensive play and also work with guards for the Cobras.  Coach Cusac currently is a firefighter for the City of Bloomington.

Rachel Schleef-Hurliman

Assistant Coach

Coach Hurliman joins the Cobras after a successful high school and college career.  Schleef-Hurliman led her Iroquois West High School team to the Class A Elite 8 in 2003 and then played two years of college basketball at Lake Land.  After suffering a career-ending back injury, Schleef-Hurliman assisted at Illinois College at Jacksonville and graduated this past May.  Coach Hurliman will assist with daily planning, conditioning, guard play, and the ins and outs of junior college basketball.  She currently teaches math at Urbana Middle School.
