Former Cobra takes over reigns of Parkland Golf Program

Former Champaign Central and Parkland College standout Zach McNabney will take over at the helm of the Parkland College Golf Program. McNabney becomes the 7th coach at PC since the program was established in 1979. Zach was a successful golfer for Parkland from 1987-89 under long time coach Greg Thom. He has been a mainstay on the local golf season for many years and has played in numerous local and state tournaments with the highlight being a top 15 finish at the 1997 State Amateur Golf Tournament. He has assisted with the Champaign Centennial girl’s team for the past four seasons.
After graduating from Parkland, Zach earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois State and has worked for several local Banks most recently as an AVP Mortgage Originator at Bank Champaign. Zach has also taught courses part-time at PC, has worked on the Board of the Parkland College Foundation and recently finished his second term as the President of the Crisis Nursery Board. He will begin work at Coldwell Banker-Devonshire Reality later this month.
He and his wife Lisa have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Marielle 11 and Isabelle 5.
“I’ve gotten to know Zach over the last several years and he is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to coach at Parkland” said Parkland College Athletic Director Rod Lovett. We’ve discussed the possibility of coaching at Parkland in the past and the timing was right this time for him to accept the position.” “I am confident that his knowledge of the game, dedication to Parkland, and ability to work with young people will bode well for his success as the coach of the golf program.”
