The
Parkland College Alumni Association began in 1984 to promote alumni involvement
in Parkland College and keep alumni informed of all campus and alumni activities,
programs, services, and events. Our focus is to create ambassadors for Parkland
College.
Anyone who has graduated from Parkland, taken one or many courses, or just
wants to join as a friend, is invited to sign up for membership. Currently
there are over 1,000 members of the association with 13 percent from outside
of Illinois.
Membership costs $15 annually, $40 for a three-year term, or $100 for a lifetime
membership.
The Alumni Association has an active and enthusiastic board of eleven individuals
from the Parkland College community. Our activities include a telethon held
in the fall and spring, participation in the annual Job Fairs and Auto Show,
alumni member receptions, and an annual golf outing.
Currently, the Alumni Association is compiling a list of Parkland alumni for
feature stories and interviews for our quarterly newsletter and for possible
nomination for community college alumni awards. In April 2003, Olympic speed
skater Bonnie Blair, who attended classes at Parkland in the '80s, received
the 2003 Outstanding Alumni Award from the American Association of Community
Colleges. If you or someone you know would like to be featured or nominated,
or if you would like more information, please email us or contact us at 217/351-2458.
