Graduation Procedures

Are you ready for graduation from Parkland College? Use the checklist below to make sure you complete the graduation process in a timely, convenient manner.
Before your last year:
  • Plan out your last year/semester's coursework to make sure you're in the right program of study/major.
  • Complete an unofficial graduation audit.
  • Submit a "Petition to Graduate" to Admissions and Records, room A167.

Early in your last semester:
  • Make sure that your "Petition to Graduate" is on file and is valid.
  • Order your cap and gown for graduation in room X150. Date to be determined.
  • Students with financial aid: Meet with a financial aid advisor, room A170, to make arrangements to close your account, learn about loan repayment, or transfer your financial aid to your next school.
  • Secure general letters of recommendation from Parkland faculty members for future needs, where applicable.

If you plan to transfer
Meet with a counselor, room A251, or with an academic advisor or the Transfer Center coordinator in room A183, to discuss transfer options and the application process. For more information, call 217/353-2644.

Visit the Career Center, room A175, 217/351-2536 for help in securing employment in your career field, including tips on resume writing, help with posting resumes, job fair information, and local and statewide job listings.
