What you'll do:
The Earth Sciences are about Planet Earth, "our home": the Atmosphere, Geosphere, and Hydrosphere. The Atmosphere would be the gases that envelope Earth, while the Geosphere is the solid Earth and the Hydrosphere includes the water on or near the Earth's surface. Parkland offers a variety of general education courses in Earth Sciences that can help you discover the niche that could lead to a truly fulfilling lifelong career. Such courses include  ESC 101 (Introduction to Weather) and ESC 102 (Introduction to Physical Geology), which meet Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) transfer requirements. These two courses, along with ESC 220 (Field Geology) are popular courses for non-science majors and good introductory courses for those considering science majors. All courses provide hands-on learning opportunities, and the geology courses feature field trips.

Where you'll go:
The Earth Sciences open a door to the fields of study in geology, climatology, and meteorology. This is a time in Earth's history when these areas of work and study have never been more critical.
