Certification Process

New to the sterile processing field?
After completing our program and passing the certification exam you'll be on your way to a new career.
 
Certification process:
  • Successful completion of Parkland's Sterile Processing Technician Theory course
 (SPT 110). Completing our technical theory course will ensure you have all of the didactic information that is covered on the national certification exam. Much of the course work is is conveniently offered mostly online with only three on campus meetings.

  • Successful completion of our Sterile Processing Technician Practicum course (SPT 111) and 400 hours of hands on experience in a sterile processing department. This practicum will be arranged at a hospital near you with the help of the instructor.

  • Pass the certification exam.
