Annual Parkland Art & Design Faculty Exhibition August 18 – September 18, 2008 Reception: The Annual Faculty Art Exhibition features work by faculty of the Parkland College’s Fine and Applied Art faculty in Art and Design. Media include sculpture, photography, metals, wood, oil, watercolor, digital media, ceramics, and more. The artists' reception will be hosted by the Parkland College Foundation and will be held on Thursday, August 21. This event will be a great opportunity to view the work and mingle with the artists. Matthew Watt will speak about his work in the exhibit at 7 pm. Live music by Stoncrik will also be a part of the evening’s festivities and refreshments will be served. The College and local communities are encouraged to attend and, as always, the reception is free and open to the public. This year’s exhibition features works by approximately 20 studio art and design faculty in media as diverse as painting, photography, drawing, metals, sculpture, digital, ceramics, and design as well as mixed media. Drawing from such a diverse range of specialty areas, the faculty exhibition features something for everyone. Students and the community as a whole will enjoy the work, which mirrors the broad spectrum of art courses available at Parkland College. Among the faculty participating in this year’s show are Louis Ballard, Chris Berti, Lisa Costello, Marsha Daniels, Jennifer Davis, Shane Harris, John Havlik, Steven Hudson, Jamie Kruidenier, Robert Laible, Gina Manola, Miriam Martincic, Melinda McIntosh, Craig McMonigal, Laura O’Donnell, Denise Seif, Peggy Shaw, Phil Smith, Joan Stolz, Matthew Watt, Kelly White and Paul Young. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Programs at the Parkland Art Gallery are partially supported by Parkland College Student Activities. Parkland is a section 504/ADA-compliant institution. For accommodation, call 217/351-2505. To find the gallery when classes are in session, we suggest using the M6 parking lot on the north corner of the campus. Enter through any door and follow the ramps uphill to the highest point of the first floor, where the gallery is located. The gallery windows overlook the outdoor fountain area.
